Alan Erera is the Manhattan Associates/Dabbiere Chair and Professor in the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech. A faculty member for over 25 years, he leads the Distribution and Transportation Logistics research thread within the Supply Chain and Logistics Institute and serves as the Thrust Co-leader for Logistics and Supply Chains for the NSF-funded AI Institute for Advances in Optimization. His research program focuses on both last-mile and middle-mile innovation using tools from optimization, machine learning and AI. He has published more than 80 research papers on work funded directly by industry leaders like UPS, The Home Depot, Grubhub, Saia, and Michelin. In his early career, he developed logistics software at ALK Technologies for trucking, railroad, and ocean cargo firms.
